Learn Corel Painter Tutorial 3 Getting started with the amazing Corel Painter--

In this tutorial we are going to explore commands of select . some are similar with Photoshop's. It is easy to use in Corel Painter, providing same commands have been using in Photoshop.

Click Select > All

 Click Select > None equal to right click to choose Popup menu > Deselect

Click Select > Invert

 Select > Reselect

Choose a brush and white color to draw in the selection above . after that, click > Select >None .

To make the selection back , click Select > Reselect to load the created selection  before, then i draw a smiling sun.

 Click Select > Float to create a new image automatically on new layer from your selection on original layer. For the same result you can click Edit > Cut on original layer to Paste on new layer.

 

Click on the bottom left small button which displays three icons as the image below.

   

Draw Outside Mode

Draw Anywhere Mode

Draw Inside Mode

Now take out Magic Wand in tool box to make an irregular selection.

choose purple as primary color and  then click Select > Feather .

Click Select > Auto Select . A dialog box appears and you can see that six options in list on box.

Here i decide to use 3D Brush Strokes option for making a special selection, but before that i need choose a sort of pattern.

I open up an original image in Corel Painter.

Click Select > Auto Select > 3D Brush Strokes .

Click Effects > Fill also with Pattern

Open up an original paint which by Artist: Jeremy Suton www.PainterCreativity.com

Click Window > Show Selection Portfolio palette on which we drag a heart to the canvas then a selection of heart appears. we can fill it with color or paint with brush.

Are you remember Channle Function in Photoshop? yeah, it is the same for users to save and load selection in Corel Painter.

 Window > Show Layers ... .In Corel Painter, layers are objects that contain image data. Because each layer is a distinct object, you can move it around and edit it without interfering with the image data on the canvas or other layers. Likewise, you can work on the canvas without interfering with any of the other layers. Layers can contain either pixel-based or vector-based images. How you work with a layer depends on the type of data it contains. When you work with layers, you use the Layers palette and the Layer Adjuster tool. Layer Types Layers can contain two types of images: Pixel-based images Vector-based images Corel Painter also features specialized types of layers: Floating object layers Reference layers Dynamic layers Watercolor layers Liquid Ink layers

Composite Depth-mainly used to blending for some sepcical Brushes -Impasto Opacity- 0-100% Preserve Transparency Pick Up Underlying Color-Drawing with Brush as affected by underlying color Lock Layer Canvas Layer New Layer New Watercolor Layer New Liquid Ink Layer Create Layer Mask Delete Option

By Click Layers > Lift Canvas To Water Color Layer is to create the watercolor layer based on canvas layer automactically, painting with any sort of water color brushes.

By clicking Layers > Wet Entire Water Color Layer  can be used only after using Lift Canvas To Water Color Layer.

By clicking  Layers > Dry Water Color Layer is be used only after using Lift Canvas To Water Color Layer.

By clicking Layers > Diffuse Digital Water Color painting  is to use directly on the layers with digital water color brush.

 Click Window > Show Channels , and its function is similar with Photoshop' channel  for saving or loading selections .
